How can I break into the sports industry?

Basically, I want to be involved in the industry. I figure if I already spend my whole day watching sports and researching every sport imaginable, I should just make a career out of it. I was thinking maybe a sports writer. Any insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
