My outdoor plants/shrubs look like they have been "burned"?

I live in Georgia and it looks like many of my outdoor shrubs look like someone has held up a match and burnt some of the leaves...that is the best way to describe it. I figure it is a bug or a fungus/disease or some sort. Please help! Thank you.
