wow lol i am totally jelous this man does love you from the sound of it. All i can say is to be there tell him every day that you love him and that nothing will ever chang that. Tell him its not his fault for his past and its ok to let the wall down and let you in but that you understand how he is feeling and if he need some time then youll give him time. Rember love is timeless you have both been through a lot and to find each other is magic. Be there for him love him and listen just know that if you feel for him and he feels for you that is all that matters
